PROCESS
All projects start with an idea. A simple, clear idea then informs the creative direction of travel. It’s how we judge if things are working and if it’s on-brand. Once we have that, expressing that idea visually, verbally and experientially feels exciting, fluid and fun!
I am always up for a challenging project and relish working with dynamic and talented people. If you'd like to talk about the possibilities of working together, I’d love to tell you more.
I'm Jen Jacobs (a.k.a The Poptartist), a brand consultant and graphic designer with over 20 years experience in Canada and the UK. I consider myself a designer and illustrator, but also an eco-warrior, type geek, perverse optimist and lover of all things imaginative and beautifully crafted.
BACKGROUND I spent six years as a Creative Director at FutureBrand London — a global agency that builds brands with a future focus. At FutureBrand I worked in ideation, strategy, visual and verbal development for global brands like Zurich, RBS, Bosch and Virgin Atlantic as well as non-profits like the Special Yoga Foundation. I'm passionate about helping brands find their voice, demonstrate their personality and live a set of values that their clients can believe in.
Before that, I worked as a freelance designer in leading London agencies like Imagination, Lambie Narin, LifeSize Media, SAS and Neville Brody’s Research Studios for big names like O2, Sainsbury’s, Nokia, Yamaha as well as green-techs like Biome Bioplastics and Scottish Renewables. Before that I was Design Director at boutique agency Hudson Fuggle, working for primarily educational institutions like Morley College in Waterloo – leading their rebrand to attract a new demographic of adult learners.
INVESTING IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY I've worked to support the creative industry through my involvement with Kerning the Gap — a mentoring program for women in design. I've also been involved with D&AD as both a New Blood judge and mentor. I also worked for and pro-bono with The Crystal Palace Festival, a free music and arts festival in South East London.
In July 2022, I started working with The Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath, I aim to help this beloved building and charity build on the past and find a clear vision for preserving its future, providing an Arts and Education focused hub for the community.
